Gary Simpson - What is the principal aim of your website Kathy and what do you hope to achieve with it?

Kathy Browning - Cancer Comfort is for anyone whose life has been affected by cancer. Our Resource Center provides links to hundreds of cancer resources including alternative and conventional treatments, clinical trials, support groups, organizations and more. We offer an exclusive line of Daily Comfort Kits, which are filled with all-natural, unscented personal care items which promote healing and provide comfort.

Gary Simpson - A most worthy cause Kathy. What do you think is different about your website that makes it special?

Kathy Browning - Cancer Comfort has a lot of heart. It was conceived after a close friend was diagnosed with leukemia and I began researching information to assist her. We understand the physical, emotional and mental stress that comes with the diagnosis of cancer and do our best to help others locate information to help them become empowered.

Gary Simpson - On a personal note, what do you consider to be your "crowning" achievement to date?

Kathy Browning - Gary, the development of the "Daily Comfort Kit" has been the most rewarding. The kits are designed to address the needs of the individual undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments and contain personal care products which promote healing and provide comfort.

Gary Simpson - How long did it take you to achieve that goal Kathy?

Kathy Browning - It has taken about two years to fully develop the kits to ensure every product provides comfort to the cancer patient.

Gary Simpson - What is the greatest difficulty you have ever had to overcome?

Kathy Browning - I grew up in a dysfunctional home and was frequently told I would never amount to anything. Overcoming lack of confidence and low self-esteem has been my greatest life challenge.

Gary Simpson - Hmm, you have certainly done well at overcoming all that. It never ceases to amaze me the challenges that people have had to contend with. What are three personal attributes you possess that help you to win?

Kathy Browning - I believe in the human spirit, I never give up, and I have a tremendous amount of compassion.

Gary Simpson - They are excellent qualities Kathy. I think I already know the answer to this next question but I will ask it anyway. Are you a reader and, if so, what books do you read?

Kathy Browning - I am an avid reader and enjoy all types of books. My favorites include self-help, metaphysical, spiritual, alternative healing, and books on business.

Gary Simpson - I just knew you were going to say that. It seems like everybody who has had to overcome difficulties has, at some stage, used books to assist them. A common thread that I have noticed is when a person gets the appetite for reading they really can't stop. Do you have a favorite quote or saying and what is it?

Kathy Browning - I'll give you a couple. “Don’t seek wealth, attract it” and “For magic to happen in your life, you must believe in magic.”

Gary Simpson - Thanks for those Kathy. Just moving back to the world wide web, what, if any, is one thing about the internet that annoys you the most?

Kathy Browning - Unfortunately, the internet seems to attract some very sick individuals. Child pornography is by far the worst thing on the net. Websites that put porn pop-up’s right in front of children make me angry. Spyware also annoys me and I really despise spam.

Gary Simpson - Me too. Kathy, going the other way, what, in your opinion, is the most advantageous feature of the internet?

Kathy Browning - The internet has connected me with many wonderful people that I would never have had the chance to meet. I have made friends around the world and have learned so much about other people’s cultures. It’s wonderful! It also allows me to get my product into the hands of people who I could not reach if I sold only from a brick and mortar store.

Gary Simpson - OK. Let's talk briefly about the future. What project or projects are you currently working on?

Kathy Browning - I’m currently working with the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund to raise funds to help grant a child’s wish and I recently submitted the Ultimate Daily Comfort Kit to QVC – a home shopping channel. I am also writing a nutrition book, which will be ready for publication at the end of April 2003.

Gary Simpson - Wow! You sure have your hands full at the moment. Like I always say "if you want something done, give it to a busy person." You seem to fit that description pretty well Kathy. Just to finish off, is there anything else you would like to say or add to the interview?

Kathy Browning - Yes. Many people are diagnosed with cancer every day and I hope that the information and products provided at Cancer Comfort will assist them on their healing journey. Finally, I would like to close by saying I am honored that you invited me to participate in this interview and thank you for your generosity and continued support.

Gary Simpson - That's great Kathy. I really appreciate the information that you have shared with our readers. Your work with cancer patients is a labour of love.
